kokoda in a day
THE MARATHON
The Kokoda in a Day half marathon seeks to become a signature annual event which will encourage a culture of health and fitness in Papua New Guinea, while raising funds to support communities in need.
The Trek has a historical significance for PNG and our Australian partners. It represents the relentless passion and partnership between both countries. We aim to remember the battles fought there for our peace. The communities along the Trek endured so that we can have the countries we have today.
With this in mind, we want to raise funds to deliver programs that seek to develop communities to become more self-sustaining.
The KIAD Half Marathon 2021 will raise funds for EPF’s future programming and ultimately generate initial efforts in bringing in sustainable development for communities along the track and across Oro.

Fundraising Target: 300,000 PGK profit (Cost estimates 100,000PGK)

The half marathon takes place in mid-October.
Kokoda in a Day 2020
Last year’s event was held on the 11th of October. The Murray Barracks AFL field served as a substitute for the real Kokoda Track, which was restricted, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Chief Executive Officer, Jacqui Joseph, said the event is important because as an organization that works closely with children, it is important we show them through practice that a healthy way of living is the best way of living.
This event also opened doors for EPF to forge partnerships with various corporate houses in NCD to support this worthy course. The Brian Bell Foundation generously donated K100,000 for the cause, and formed a team of their own to take part in the half-marathon.
